# Settings

### Overview

The **Settings** page controls privacy-related options for Database Entries Form 7. You can disable the collection of visitors' IP addresses and browser (user agent) information to help meet GDPR and other privacy requirements.

Access settings at **Entries Form 7 → Settings** in your WordPress dashboard.

### Why Configure Settings?

Adjusting these options helps you:

* Reduce the amount of personal data stored with each submission
* Align form entry collection with your privacy policy
* Support GDPR compliance by limiting tracking metadata
* Keep only the submission field data you actually need

### Before You Begin

* Database Entries Form 7 must be installed and active
* You must be logged in as an Administrator
* Default settings collect IP address and user agent data

### Step-by-Step Instructions

#### Open the Settings Page

1. In your WordPress dashboard, go to **Entries Form 7 → Settings**.
2. Review the available privacy options.

#### Available Settings

**Disable IP Address**

**Default:** Off (IP addresses are collected)

When enabled, the plugin stops storing the visitor's IP address with new submissions.

* **Enabled** - IP addresses are not saved for new entries
* **Disabled** - IP addresses are collected and shown on the Entry Detail page

**Disable User Agent (Browser) Tracking**

**Default:** Off (browser and OS data are collected)

When enabled, the plugin stops detecting and storing browser and operating system information.

* **Enabled** - Browser and OS data are not saved for new entries
* **Disabled** - Browser and OS icons appear on the Entry Detail page when available

#### Save Changes

3. Toggle the options you want to change.
4. Click **Save Changes**.
5. A success message confirms your settings were saved.

Settings apply to **new submissions only**. Existing entries retain whatever metadata was collected at the time of submission.

### Tips

💡 **Review your privacy policy** before changing these settings. Make sure it describes what data your forms collect.

💡 **Disable both options** for maximum privacy if you only need the form field values.

💡 **Settings affect new entries only.** Previously stored IP and browser data in existing entries is not removed automatically.

💡 **You can re-enable tracking later** if your requirements change - new submissions will then include metadata again.

### Notes

{% hint style="info" %}
**Form field data is always collected.** These settings only control IP address and user agent metadata - not the actual form submission fields.
{% endhint %}

{% hint style="info" %}
**Country lookup on Entry Detail** depends on IP address collection. If IP collection is disabled, country information will not be available.
{% endhint %}

{% hint style="info" %}
**No uninstall data option** is available on this page. Entry data remains in your database until you delete entries manually or uninstall the plugin.
{% endhint %}
